Sunday Market

Finally able to sleep in...until 8am. But still, it was sleeping in. It was still cooler in the morning but quickly warmed up by mid morning. Grabbed a quick omlet breakfast (I know, weak) and a mango passion fruit smoothie, then headed to our massages. I got another Thai massage, but for an hour this time. It's such a different type of massage than I would ever expect, the way they move around and stretch your body. The hour long really made a difference - my body was sore after. Then we grabbed a quick lunch at a street side kitchen. I loved how it's not quite a restaurant, but also not a street vendor, a little in between. Here shows what the lady's kitchen looks like. I'm facing the street.

After lunch we made a game time decision to rent a moped and head up the mountain to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. It was a little nerve wracking driving the moped around such crazy drivers, and on the opposite side of the road, but it isn't really as crazy when you're in the drivers seat. It's just a matter of knowing where people are. It was a beautiful view at the top and you could see all of Chiang Mai!

The temple was surprisingly busy and touristy, but was another temple. Since it was so touristy we were able to get our favorite coconuts.

Afterwards we headed back down to our hostel and chilled for a bit before heading to the Sunday market. The market was giant, probably one and a half kilometers long, with multiple branch outs. It was great for a bit, and everything is super cheap. There's everything you could imagine from clothes to art to jewelry and bags and leather goods. Seriously everything. But it was little much towards the end with so many people.

The food was amazing as always. We got a green curry, sausage, teriyaki chicken, mango sticky rice, fried bananas, and some random meat balls that tasted like chicken. Everything is on a stick.

This is the sausage.

In the middle of the market we stopped in at our tailor to try on what they had started making. He had to make a couple adjustments go each of our clothing items but it's super exciting to have clothes that are made for me. All of my dress shirts are too big for me, until now.

Since we still had time to wander after the market we for a couple more trinkets and then got a tastey Singha beer from a nearby bar. Another day on our feet it feels good to sit down and write. Tomorrow we're going for a hike most of the day so we'll be able to see a little more of the nature in Thailand!
